Expert Reviews

A young Malbec that shows blackberry .flowers and minerals. Full body, fresh acidity and a bright, focused finish that's subtle and savoury. Drink or hold. Rating 92 - James Suckling 2015 Report (JUN/2015)

The 2013 Malbec Reserva mixes grapes form the Uco Valley and Las Compuertas in Luján de Cuyo in the blend. The destemmed grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks and the wine matured in French oak barrels (one third new) for some 12-14 months. You immediately notice the freshness of the vintage when compared with wines form 2012 or especially 2009. There are blackberries and lots of licorice with a lactic touch. The palate is medium-bodied with bittersweet flavors shaped by polished, round tannins and good acidity. This is clearly the wine with the better quality-to-price ratio of this collection. Rating 89 - Drink by 2018, Luis Gutierrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (AUG/2015).

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Founded in 1999 by Bodegas Chandon, a subsidiary of Moët Hennessy in Argentina, Terrazas de los Andes derives its name from the "terrazas", a series of terraces at the foothills, or Cordilleras, of the Andes.

These terraces range in altitude from 600 to 1500 meters. Each grape variety - the prestigious Malbec, the Cabernet Sauvignon, the Torrontes and the Chardonnay - is planted at the ideal altitude to ensure optimum conditions for the grapes to grow to maturity and produce wines with remarkable structure and concentration.

Considered as one of the best wineries in the world by the international press, Terrazas de los Andes has in just a few years become a leading name in super-premium Argentine wines. Its wines are exported to 40 countries.

It was quite natural that Terrazas de los Andes was selected by Cheval Blanc, the renowned Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" Saint-Emilion château in Bordeaux, for a prestigious joint venture that has led to the creation of a truly exceptional Argentine grand cru wine, Cheval des Andes.
