Winery Tasting Notes
The appearance is deep garnet red with a rustic brick red edges and remnants of deep indigo intensity.
Open and allow time to breathe before serving in large bowled glassware. The bouquet is luxuriant, opening with rich fruits of blackcurrant and cassis followed by the distinctive aroma of polished mahogany, oak, leather and cigar smoke.
Blackcurrants and cassis follow onto the early palate then slowly unfold to reveal layers of coconut, herbs, oak and smoky tobacco. As the flavours build on the tongue they become more complex showing characters of spiced pudding, licorice and roasted coffee beans. It’s firm rich and full with a dry finish and lingering savoury aftertaste. The tannins give a chewy sensation that finishes with a chocolaty smoothness.
Enjoy this intensely flavoured wine with a juicy, flame grilled steak or spicy beef patty. After dinner it’s ideal with a selection farmhouse cheeses, nuts and dried fruits.
This is a complex Cabernet drinking well now. It will continue to increase in complexity and texture for 4 – 6 years.
