This traditional pairing delivers a full flavoured experience with big solid fruit, long sensuously smooth middle and a firm dry finish. It has all the charisma and depth of a robust Cabernet Sauvignon with the luscious friendly personality of perfectly ripe Barossa Merlot.

Winery Tasting Notes
The colour is deep garnet red with hues of cherry and crimson with brick red showing on the rim hinting at five years gentle maturation.
The bouquet is filled with the intensity of Cabernet. Herbaceous, vegetative characters up front with medicinal herbs lifted by hints of black currant and sweet red berries. The background carries mint, violets and ground coffee.
The initial flavours of plum and strawberry fruits are quickly overshadowed by the savoury herbaceous flavours of capsicum, mint and green olives. The mid palate is long and full with pencil shaving oak and a creamy cashew nut texture. With small barrel maturation and extended time in cellar it has developed a dry spicy finish with seductive hints of chocolate and licorice. The tannin structure is firm and perfectly balanced by the mellowing smoothness of Merlot.
This wine is lovely drinking right now. It makes a great match to juicy steak or beef and is delicious with tasty vintage cheese.
Peter Jorgensen’s Reserve Grand Barossa wines are selected for their longevity and depth of character. This Cabernet Merlot will continue to age developing rich chocolate and mocha flavours with time. With over 5 years age it has already become nicely rounded and balanced.
