Winery Tasting Notes
The appearance is an opaque inky black with deep indigo hues at the edge of the glass.
The primary fruit character is black currant with strong herbaceous elements of capsicum and mint. Well integrated toasty oak compliments with cigar box, cedar wood and tobacco notes. Heady alcohol spirit gives a sweet glycerol complexity.
The palate has plums and blackcurrant fruit building to a robust mid palate full of herbal, vegetative flavours entwined with typical cedar wood and earthy charred oak, vanilla and spice. The tannins are solid with a fine grained texture giving a firm dry finish. It’s a robust wine with a tight tannin profile and lingering smooth dry finish and delicious aftertaste.
This wine is lovely drinking right now and rewards some gentle breathing before serving. It makes a great match to juicy steak or beef and is delicious with tasty vintage cheese.
This is a true Reserve style wine which will deliver excellent drinking over a decade of cellaring. From release it offers an intense flavour experience which will continue to develop and gain complexity as it matures in bottle.
