Winery Tasting Notes

The appearance is medium to deep cherry red with hues of crimson and burgundy around the edges.

The bouquet is intense and fills the glass with sweet spice, berries and fragrant petals before opening up to reveal the earthy characters of anise, cedar wood and licorice. The aromatics are complex and continue to evolve as the wine breathes in the glass.

On the palate the flavours are powerful yet refined, opening with dark cherries and a hint of musk. The middle palate is round and supple with spice, oak, dark chocolate and an earthy gaminess that follows through to the finish. The tannins are fine and gentle which combine with the sweetness of the alcohol to give a dry tactile mouthfeel.

Food Matching

This wine confident and stately, it can match the most sophisticated cuisine … pheasant pate, confit duck or slow roasted wild boar. It also has a universal attraction which makes it perfect for every day enjoyment with your favourite dishes.

Cellaring Potential

This is a lovely wine that can comfortably be enjoyed now or cellared with confidence for up to another five to eight years. Over time it will develop a fine crust and the flavours will mellow and soften while the complexity will grow and become even more intriguing.
