Overview

Drawn and settled in 1869 as a farming block, Dollar Vale Estate is fortunate to be situated in the Gundagai wine area which is now widely acknowledged as perfect for the production of premium Shiraz.

Our Hill Block consistently produces great concentrated flavours showcasing the typical Shiraz varietal expression.

The wet beginning to summer and early ripening stage allowed for healthy vines and exceptional fruit quality. Followed then by a hot, dry and windy finish, 2012 was an exceptionally good year for the Shiraz grapes on Hill Block.

This Shiraz has an attractive deep red, garnet colour. White pepper and spices leap from the soft tannins of this early picked fruit.

Expert Reviews

"This Shiraz has an attractive deep garnet colour. The aromas of pepper and sweet spice intertwine harmoniously with those of sweet dark fruit and black olive to create an inviting and clearly varietal bouquet.

These aromas carry through to the palate where one encounters persistent flavours of dark fruit, pepper and spice supported by drying, but balanced tannins."
