The vineyard in question lies on the border of the High-Eden sub-region of the Barossa at around 400 metres above sea level on lean, bony soils that keep the yields down. A lot of work goes into the canopy management here, and the tiny berries coming in always show outstanding colour and flavour.
Intense, balanced fruit showing brilliant varietal flavours and great natural acidity certainly makes the job a whole lot easier at the winery.

Winery Tasting Notes
Fragrant dark and black fruits burst from the glass. Aromas of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant with a waft of perfumed mulberry making an appearance. Hints of deep-set, heady spice, clove, cinnamon, star anise and nutmeg along with aromas of black liquorice, rosemary, dark chocolate, earth, forest floor and the merest suggestion of mint.
Medium-bodied with an energetic line, the wine shows comforting fruit flavours of blackberry and blackcurrant with higher-toned flavours of red plum, mulberry and redcurrant giving a pleasing lift. Clove, nutmeg and cinnamon spice lie in the background, along with hints of liquorice, jasmine, herbs, espresso, dark chocolate, earth and crème de cassis.
While the flavours on the palate are rich & inviting there is a savoury lean to the wine’s structure. Ripe, fine sandy tannins and a lip-smacking line of acidity leads to a vibrant, energetic finish that lingers nicely with flavours of detailed berry fruits, spice and flecks of herbs on the exit.
