Woodthorpe is an expansive single vineyard on elevated river terraces, angled to the sun, located in Hawkes Bay’s Tutaekuri river valley. Originally a colonial settlement, militia encampment, and staging post, it was between 1863 and 1914 home to the annual Woodthorpe races. Today it’s ideal aspect and free-draining soils provide Te Mata Estate a unique location for quality grapes.

Te Mata Estate Woodthorpe Gamay Noir ‘11 has a vibrant, bright cherry colour.
The wine shows aromas of wild strawberry, cranberry and lavender.
The palate is juicy and moreish with toffee-apple flavours and gently rounded, light tannins to the finish.
Woodthorpe Gamay Noir is an incredibly versatile wine, partnering with any food and is particularly good with spicy cuisines, matching its vibrant fruit and soft tannins. It can be enjoyed immediately upon release and can be served at room temperature or during summer, lightly chilled.
