The origin of Left Field Merlot was our desire to make a Merlot that would express the purity and richness typically found in the vineyard. Front foot and fruit forward.

We have picked parcels of fruit from the blocks on the “Left Field” part of the vineyard. Merlot selections of UCD6, Erindale and Bordeaux 481 all contribute to the blend.

Their philosophy is to achieve balanced wines, reflecting the grapes from which they are made and having the individuality of our vineyard site. Embracing the time proven traditions of the worlds great winemakers, they harvest and vinify the different parcels of our vineyard separately, which gives us small variations in flavour and texture and thus more options when it comes to blending.

Their aim is for a synergistic effect, where the wine will be better than the sum of the individual parts. Once blended, the components marry and age together, evolving towards harmony as one wine - the best possible expression of their vineyards unique character.
