Classification: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, Umbria
If Tabarrini wines are considered extreme, this label is even more so! A product of deep clay and a magnificent southern exposure, this wine is made from grapes of exceptional maturity. The resulting wine is aged in French barriques and refined for many months in the bottle, and is not marketed (uniquely for a Sagrantino) until 6 years after harvest. A muscular and powerufl red, incredibuly complex, huge, with superb tannin and longevity.

Winery Tasting Notes
100% Sagrantino, a lively, sometimes tannic red grape variety grown in umbria in central Italy, particularly in the Montefalco area. Sagrantino di Montefalco was elevated to docg status in the mid 1990s. Sagrantino has been used as an ingredient in dried grape wines but today shows promise as a carefully vinified dry red.
The colour is almost impenetrable.
Rich perfume, mastefully playing on nuances of chocolate, vanilla and a riot of black fruit.
The palate follows the allomatic progression, and the power is never an end in itself, but is desgined to evolve and mature over time. Susbstantial and structured, with refined tannin and infinite length expression.
