Made with the same approach as the Reserve wine, the differences in this wine result from some tank fermentation as well as a selection of different barrels and fruit parcels than those used to make the Reserve Chardonnay.
- VIC - Yarra Valley
50% tank fermented, 50% in barrel. All natural ferments. 10% new oak. As the winemaking would suggest, the clear emphasis here is on fruit and freshness. It has a slatey, white peach and lemon character, a chalky dryness then fitting in with the general theme. It's both reserved and classy at once; it will build given extra time in the bottle. Quality is a given. Rating 95 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (FEB/2016)
Winery Tasting Notes
The wine has grapefruit and lemon zest aromas with underlying notes of cashew nuts.
The palate has a creamy yet fine texture derived from 10 months on lees and a lovely drive with persistence of flavour. With oak and tank maturation, the wine shows an elegant complexity with appealing freshness.
