Made with the same approach as the Reserve wine, the differences in this wine result from some tank fermentation as well as a selection of different barrels and fruit parcels than those used to make the Reserve Chardonnay.
- VIC - Yarra Valley
Tarrawarra has progressively replanted most of the estate chardonnay with significantly improved clones. The best (15%) of the original plantings have been retained, and the grapes for this wine were picked over an unusually extended period. There is a complex pattern of stone fruit and citrus flavours, neatly balanced by a mix of new and used French oak, the end result the epitome of elegance. Rating 95 - Drink by 2019 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (DEC/2013)
Winery Tasting Notes
The wine has grapefruit and lemon zest aromas with underlying notes of cashew nuts.
The palate has a creamy yet fine texture derived from 10 months on lees and a lovely drive with persistence of flavour. With oak and tank maturation, the wine shows an elegant complexity with appealing freshness.
