Overview

The Swan Bay range continues the Scotchmans Hill wine-making philosophy of restraint, elegance, balance and purity. These wines take their name from the Swan Bay nature reserve. A beautiful landmark at the eastern end of the Bellarine Peninsula, Swan Bay was named by Commander Matthew Flinders in 1803 while he was mapping the southern coastline of Australia.

A full flavoured and complex wine which is dominated by plum, cherry and red fruits. This is rounded out by white pepper, liquorice and spice, with a cedary oak finish. The wine gains overall balance from tight but fine grain tannins and acid. The palate is intense, long, and lingering. This is a wine to be enjoyed over the next 2 to 4 years.

Expert Reviews

Terrific value. Savoury, peppery notes embedded in ripe, fleshy, dark cherried fruit. Builds good momentum and carries it right through the finish. Cool climate at every turn but a very good example of such. Rating 92 - Drink by 2024 - C.M. - Australian Wine Companion (FEB/2014)
