Margaret River is a temperate maritime region that is approximately 100kms from north to south. Subtle changes in meso-climate and soil diversity along this substantial stretch of coastal land, results in an extensive array of varietal expressions in both Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The resulting diverse palette of flavours offers a broad spectrum of possibilities and has allowed the local winemakers to make this blend a regional speciality.

Expert Reviews

Always a reliable performer. Matchsticks, grass, cream, lime and pineapple. It has a bit of succulence, along with funky smoky flavours, a gentle gloss and some tangy cut pineapple to close. Good example of the style" Rating 91 - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front (13/06/2013)

Winery Tasting Notes

Pale straw green with a green hue, clear and bright.

The bouquet is lifted, ripe and intense with fruit salad aromas, nectarine, cape gooseberry, apple, lemon oil, dried herbs, spice and a hint of florals.

Medium bodied and nicely weighted in the mouth, the flavours are crisply defined with a heart of juicy stonefruits, wrapped in a gossamer-like cloak of creamy textural oak, finishing with a snappy, mineral acid cut.

Now and the wine will continue to grow in complexity for five or more years from vintage.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

The beginnings of Stella Bella Wines date back to the release of 200 cases of the single vineyard Suckfizzle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon in 1999 by winemakers Janice McDonald and Stuart Pym.

In 2000 the first Stella Bella wine, a Moscato style Pink Muscat was released followed by a Sangiovese Cabernet in 2003. An interest in Italian wine influencing both the choice of name and wine styles.

And the latest addition, Skuttlebutt an everyday drinking style, was released in 2003.

From this modest and eclectic beginning, Stella Bella Wines has experienced rapid growth, broad critical acclaim and a reputation for producing individually crafted Margaret River wines of great expression, personality and quality.

The grafting and crafting of this reputation has been and remains a very hands-on journey for Stella Bella Wines. Both owners and staff alike have worked intuitively and with a high level of self belief and trust in one another.

Our future success is inextricably linked to the Margaret River region and the crafting of the best wines possible from this precious and scarce vineyard resource.
