After several years of vineyard and stylistic exploration, we now have a wine we think is pretty special. Selected from our oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines that are Bordeaux clonal selections, these grapes have always been quite different in flavour and palate characteristics than the rest of our vines. The wine gains complexity and structure from oak fermentation and aging.

"Marlborough is coming of age when it comes to chardonnay and pinot noir, and names like Envoy are leading the way. Envoy sauvignon has clearly been assembled with the craftsmanship of Envoy chardonnay and pinot – a level of focus often missing in Marlborough sauvignon. Oak fermented and aged for nine months on lees, there’s a backdrop here of classy oak spice, roast nuts and vanilla, impaled by a gleaming spear of lemon juice acidity that harpoons the palate and careers long through the finish. Its primary fruit triumphs over any oak influence, maintaining a seamless harmony in the midst of the maelstrom, infused with incredible energy and perseverance that will underline a lifespan like Marlborough sauvignon has perhaps never known." Rating 95 - Tyson Stelzer, Tyson Stelzer - Winepress
Bright, medium yellow colour. intensely nutty, strong oak-influenced aroma, with very ripe, tropical sauvignon fruit as well. A rich, complex, heavily worked wine with concentrated flavour and great power and persistence. Rating 93 - Huon Hooke, Huonhook.com
Winery Tasting Notes
Gun flint, citrus and fresh herbs.
The structure is fine and elegant. Secondary barrel influences round out the palate and combine with the restrained fruit from this vintage. The mineral influence from our stony "River" block is apparent.
