Continuation of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr downstream, towards where the dam across the Mosel widens the water surface. The appellation ends at the church at the southern end of Zeltingen. Very steep slope with large outcroppings of rock. Large chunks of blue Devonian slate, very shallow subsoil of decomposed slate on top of slate bedrock. Driest soil of the five sites. Very close to the water surface of the Mosel.
Auslese (Selected Harvest)
one of the riper Prädikats in the qmp quality wine category defined by the german wine law. Auslese means literally 'selected harvest' and, from the 1994 vintage, the grapes should theoretically have been picked at least a week after a preliminary picking of less ripe grapes.

Winery Tasting Notes
Delicate fragrance of perfectly ripe Riesling with a hint of sweet dried berries.
On the palate a medley of yellow plums, tropical fruit and a hint of smokiness. Super concentrated, elegant wine, balanced by an almost “electric”, crystalline acidity. Great length in the finish.
Goes well with richly flavoured and -scented food preparations from classic, continental cuisine to oriental cuisine where a certain spiciness is present. Also good with all sorts of desserts (ideally fruit-based), with rich patés, with blueveined cheeses and “smelly” cheeses. Superb with all preparations of foie gras.
Excellent as apéritif or just alone by itself with no condiments. Serve at 10 –- 11° Celsius
