Bright crimson; the wine spent 12 months in French oak and delivers far more than the vast majority of wines around this price; indeed, there are many elements linking its senior brothers from '12, in particular the savoury, earthy, licorice accents to the predominantly black fruit, red berries making only a fleeting impression. Firm tannins will carry the wine for some time to come. Rating 90 - Drink by 2022, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (MAR/2014)
Winery Tasting Notes
Opaque and dark red in colour, medium bodied and endowed with gorgeous ripe tannins.
The wine displays aromas of red plums, blackberries, currants and vanilla which flow seamlessly on to the palate.
The ripe fruit flavours give way to savoury elements derived from 12 months in French oak, of hazelnut, liquorice and spices that expand across the palate, finishing with generous length.
This graceful, elegant wine is perfect for enjoying on its own. A quality accompaniment to veal scaloppini, a chicken curry or white asparagus with a hollandaise sauce as a vegetarian option.
Ready for early drinking or to be cellared and enjoyed over the next 10 years.
