Schild Estate wines are created with authenticity and passion from real earth in the Southern Barossa by generations of a family who have made that place their home.
Sourced from a number of carefully selected estate vineyard parcels in and around Lyndoch and Rowland Flat, the 2011 vintage also sees the inclusion of some small parcels of fruit taken from the northern end of the valley in and around Ebenezer. Our goal remains to reflect the soft elegant palate of Schild’s viticultural home in the southern portions of the Barossa, whilst taking advantage of some other vineyard material in a cooler wetter year to deliver a smaller blend, but one showing consistency and quality.

It’s true to form. Good sweet fruit with a clear hit of sweet, spicy vanillin oak. Blackberry, black cherry, mocha, cloves, some raspberried highlights. There’s nothing terribly plump or generous about it but it’s satisfying nonetheless. Well put together. Minor and pretty much welcome jamminess to the finish. Good buying and drinking. Winery Tasting Notes
Deep ruby with purple hues
Fragrant, full aromas of blackcurrant and morello cherries supported by subtle hints of licorice and cedar wood.
Soft, juicy, dark berry fruit flavours fill the mouth on the front palate along with fleeting glimpses of milk chocolate, violets and sage. This core of primary fruit is framed by a definite, but fine tannin framework providing some scaffolding and allowing the wine to maintain thrust and a clear direction as it travels through the mouth finishing fruity, controlled and long.
