Matured in French and American oak, which emphatically frames the supple black fruits of the palate; it's hard to cavil at the amount of oak at this price, especially as it will be seen as a plus by many who have a glass or two. James Halliday, Rating 89, 27th July 2015
Winery Tasting Notes
Dark ruby, with purple, black hues.
Expressive aromas of blood plums, blueberries, raspberries, dark chocolate and subtle controlled oak spice.
Those intense dark plum flavours also show on the palate alongside tastes of dark chocolate, vanilla bean and cloves all of which aid in providing a fullness of mouth feel. Intertwined with all of this is a firm, but fine tannin frame delivering an ever present direction of travel and structure to wrap in and around the fruit. The dark berry fruit holds to the end to help the wine roll out through a long, comforting finish.
