Overview

This blend of Grenache (45%), Mourvedre (28%) and Shiraz (27%) is an homage to the great wines of the Southern Rhone but with a very Barossan accent.

The result is a remarkably well balanced wine, with pure fruity aromas, drinking absolutely beautifully.

James Halliday calls it one of the bargains of the year; at that price point it would be crazy not to give it a try!

Expert Reviews

A 47/27/26% blend. The vivid crimson colour sends a message of the equally bright palate with its synergistic and unusually harmonious blend, the gamut of red fruits retaining brightness and shape (and no confection). Exceptional value - one of the bargains of the year. James Halliday, Rating 94, 27th July 2015

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Dark cherry red, ruby.

Aroma

Vibrant red fruity aromas of fresh cherries, redcurrant and raspberries combine with some blue fruit notes upfront before a hint of stony minerality and subtle notes of pepper spice, lavender and garigue herb.

Palate

Prominent, pillowy dark berry pastille fruit and some delicate soft tannins ensure an overriding sumptuous velvety feel to the wine. This envelopes a firm Mataro core driving down the middle and out the end of the palate to give some length, an additional layer of interest and provide some containment to the lovely dark fruit.
