Expert Reviews

Fresh and crisp, the flavours predominantly built around citrus, but with enough tropical nuances to satisfy; nicely made. James Halliday, Rating 90, 27th July 2015

Winery Tasting Notes

Lifted and bright aromas of passionfruit, fresh cut lime and paw paw with subtle hints of honeysuckle.

Smooth and textural palate with lashings of passionfruit, honeydew and rockmelon. These punchy tropical fruit flavours melt together beautifully with grapefruit, fresh lime and flinty notes which continue right through to the lengthy and zesty finish.

Food Matching

Serve alfresco with grilled prawns marinated in lime or with fresh crab stirred through spaghetti with a squeeze of lemon juice.

Enjoy this wine whilst it is youthful.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Peter Riddoch Rymill, the elder son of John and Eleanor Rymill, was born in 1940. A keen equestrian like his father, he competed in California and Ireland, retiring after he won the Australian Show Jumping Championship in 1965.

Peter married international Three Day Eventer and Show Jumper Judith Ritchie in 1964, and horses continued to play an integral role in their competitive and farming lives.

Peter and Judy diversified into viticulture in 1968 with an experimental vineyard, and six years later the family enterprise returned to Coonawarra when planting began on the Rymill Coonawarra Vineyards.

While Judy managed the farm, Peter completed a degree in Wine Science and a diploma in Wine Marketing before he began building the winery in 1990.

Here, the vision so characteristic of his great-grandfather, John Riddoch, and his father, John Rymill, is evident. And now, with his son John and daughter Lisa, a new generation is already involved, and the Riddoch Rymill family tradition continues.
