Expert Reviews

Light, bright colour; a fragrant bouquet of cherry and a touch of raspberry is followed by a deliciously silky red fruit palate, with a particular echo of the raspberry of the bouquet.Drink to 2017: Rating 94 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2010)

and lunges of spice.

The Label

The dictionary definition of ‘Riposte’ (pronounced rip-posst) is comeback, reply, retort, or in the context of the sport of fencing a quick counter stroke. After over a decade of confusion about his name ‘Riposte’ was chosen as an appropriate name for a ‘comeback label’ by Tim Knappstein.

The Sword Name

‘The Sabre’; A fencing weapon with a flat blade, used with cutting or thrusting actions; a military sword popular in the 18th to 20th centuries, mainly used by cavalry.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

It’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks when the old dog in question is Tim Knappstein. With 40 years of winemaking and more than 500 wine show awards under his belt, Tim started yet another new wine life with Riposte, a subtle response to the various vicissitudes he has suffered in recent years. While having no continuing financial interest in Lenswood Vineyards, established many years ago,Tim is able to source grapes from it and also makes selections from other prime sites in surrounding areas. Exports to the UK, Canada, Holland, Singapore, Malaysia and China. James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
