Redbank Sunday Morning Pinot Gris 2012 was hand picked when the grapes had reached a balance of aromatics, fruit richness and natural acidity. Just as in 2011, the 2012 vintage was defined by cool temperatures throughout the growing and ripening months. Skill and dedication of our growers were rewarded with a wine of elegance and flavour with vibrant aromatics this region is renowned for.

Higher up the valley is the vineyard of David Burder: one of mainland Australia’s highest vineyards (860 metres asl) exhibiting classic Pinot Gris aromas and flavours of rose petal, blossoms and fragrant spices, combined with a fresh, restrained acidity.

The high altitudes and moderately cool summers of the King Valley are ideal for the production of high quality aromatic varieties.

Winery Tasting Notes

Very pale straw with bright green tints.

Lifted aromas of fresh pear juice with fragrant rose petal and floral top notes overlaid with hints of exotic spice.

This wine is elegant and finely structured with subtle flavours of nashi pear and Turkish delight. The mouth feel is textural and creamy with a restrained mineral acidity leading to a long, chalky finish. With time in bottle the classic Pinot Gris flavours and texture will continue to grow and mellow.

Enjoy now for a crisper style or wait a couple of years if you like your Pinot Gris with more flesh and richness.

Winery Profile

Redbank Winery was established by Neill & Sally Robb in the Pyrenees region of Central Victoria in 1973.

It is distinctly Australian and is named after the small town of Redbank situated three kilometers to the north. It is located 2 hours north-west of Melbourne in the heart of the Pyrenees range.

Redbank Winery has established a reputation for producing wines of excellent quality, consistency and value. The winery is 18kms north of Avoca on the Sunraysia Highway.

Neill & Sally planted their first vines in 1973; which consisted of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec varieties. Today there are 18 hectares (45 acres) under vine, which produce exceptional quality grapes. The original vineyard of Sally’s Paddock, named after Neill’s wife Sally, is still a non-irrigated single vineyard that continues to deliver a wine of wonderful complexity and depth.

In 1975, using local century old hand made red bricks, Neill built our steep-gabled winery, known as Redbank Winery. This today provides a fabulous ambiance to taste the wines and also enjoy the delicious hand made dishes, at the Flying Pig Deli.

After 37 years of operation, Redbank Winery continues to be wholly owned and operated by Neill & Sally Robb.

Sally’s Paddock is proudly listed as ‘Distinguished’ on the Langton’s Classification of Distinguished Australian Wine. The Sally’s Paddock has been listed in their catalogue since it’s inception. Langton’s Classification is now a cornerstone of the ultra-fine Australian wine market. It is based on the actual buying patterns of their clients (over 6000 active members). Thus it transcends personal agendas, pompous glorifications and endless accolades.
