The vineyard is planted on the virgin soils of a 2000 year old river bed, rich in alluvial deposits. Situated on the McLaughlin’s 4th generation outback sheep station, the vines are maintained on a chemical free basis. Sheep play a crucial role in the vineyard for weed control.

The palate is intense fruit with a well balanced lingering finish. In particular fresh citrus, crunchy snow peas and passionfruit.

Winery Profile

The family’s core brand – is more contemporary in look and approachable in style, but just as serious when it comes to winemaking. The reds also exhibit the same hallmark intensity as a result of yields of under 2 tonnes/acre (14 hectolitres/acre), careful winemaking and oak complexity.

The flagship wine for the family is the Ram’s Leap Shiraz displaying an intensely unique style. The soil and climate are ideal for the Southern French varietals planted. The coarse sandy alluvial soils deposited there by the Duck creek 2000 years ago and long ripening days create an ideal setting to construct full bodied wines with an unique outback terroir.
