Dense, lively and very young, with some purple reflections.

Aroma

Intense and very elegant on the nose. Extremely fruity with notes of grapes and figs over nuances of oak, promising great development with bottle age.

Fresh and velvety with full-bodied and dense fruit. The tannins are smooth and the wine shows excellent acid balance to counter the beautifully ripe fruit. The finish is long with just a hint of chocolate.

Food Matching

18 degrees Celsius. If possible decant the Port first, since as it was not filtered it may throw a deposit. Ideal with hard mountain cheeses and other full fat cheeses, dry ‘patisserie’, wine poached fruits and dried fruits and nuts. For the more adventurous, try it with pepper steak! The 2004 Ramos Pinto Late Bottled Vintage Port is excellent drinking now but will also develop very well in bottle.

Winemaking Notes

Late Bottled Vintage 2004 was produced to traditional methods. The grapes trodden manually in a “lagare”, with no hot/cool treatment or filtration to preserve the fruit content and ensure longevity.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Adriano Ramos Pinto founded the house in 1880 and the excellent quality of the wines soon gained recognition on the export market. Adriano’s business foresight made him something of a pioneer in the Port market whereby he supported the promotion of his wines with a quality advertising campaign based on posters designed by some of the most famous artists of his time.

Today, as majority shareholders, the Louis Roederer family group perpetuates the policy of quality by way of substantial investment in advanced technology and viticultural methods combined with respect for tradition and service.

Among Port producers, Ramos Pinto has the largest holding of estate vineyards proportionate to wine produced. The Quintas are located in the delimited areas of Cima-Corgo for Quinta do Bom-Retiro and Quinta do Urtiga, and Douro Superior for Quinta da Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares. In 1976, RamosPinto began a detailed and ongoing research project to select the best grape varieties for the production of quality Port and table wines. Five varietals selected by Ramos Pinto were subsequently adopted by the Authorities for all new plantings in the region: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barroca,Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cao.
