Distinctive Barossa Valley fruit characters are complimented by an elegant lift from vines grown on the high slopes

The appearance is dark and concentrated with a purplish black core and deep crimson hues on the edge.


The nose is intense with a savory complexity. The initial bouquet has smoked meats and olive tapenade with hints of dark plum, black cherry and mulberry. There is some very sophisticated oak handling showing cedar, spice and toast, finishing with a heady lift of sweet alcohol.


The palate is generous with earthy savory Mediterranean flavours that quickly open to reveal complex layers of sweet black fruit, dry spices and smoky oak. The tannin structure is firm and gripping with a heightened acid lift filling the mid palate which lingers through to a solid dry finish with hints of ground coffee and rich dark chocolate. A wine of this complexity calls for matching food flavours. Slow cooked lamb shanks, ox tail or beef cheek come immediately to mind with their concentrated sauces and unctuous texture

The “Reserve” label is kept for premium parcels of outstanding wine identified by Peter Jorgensen for their rich fruit intensity, complex flavours and structure combined with their long term aging ability. At the core of all “Reserve” wines is premium vineyard management and minimal intervention winemaking. The resulting wines are limited quantity batches of natural wines with minimal filtration or additives. They are wines that take time to evolve and are given extended cellar maturation to allow all elements to become integrated before bottling. The aging process will continue in bottle and this wine will develop a light crust over time.
