Expert Reviews

A 70/30% blend, standard Hay Shed Hill vinification; 10 months in French oak. Bright colour; there's no question: drink this while its senior Cabernet Merlot sibling softens its tannin structure; this is joyously juicy, with a river of red fruits running along the palate, the finish bright and clear, with no tannins blocking the path. James Halliday, Rating 92, 27th July 2015

Deep red-purple colour, raspberry and crushed herb aromas, a hint of tomato leaf. It’s medium-bodied and straightforward, with bright varietal fruit and finishing with a decisive, typical cabernet grip. Remarkable value. Huon Hooke, The Real Review (MAR/2016)

Winery Tasting Notes

Bright and clear pink hues.

The wine is clean, fresh and has an inviting berry fruit nose. Aromas of vanilla bean ice-cream and fresh strawberries.

The palate is fresh and lively with rich juicy cabernet characters. Lingering fruit flavours carry through the palate which finishes with just a hint of red wine texture. The perfect wine to enjoy on a spring or summer day.

Pitchfork Range

The modern Australian food and lifestyle needs modern Australian wine. Friends and family, casual dining, good primary food ingredients presented simply so as to highlight the quality of the produce. The wine needs to complement this experience and should be clean and bright expressing the quality of the fruit not secondary influences of fermentation, oak and other processing gimmicks. The modern Australian food and lifestyle needs modern Australian wine - there is no better source of modern Australian wine than off an old Australian vineyard.
