The 2010 Pfeiffer Carlyle Shiraz has been made with grapes from 3 vineyard sites, all offering various characters. The grapes from each vineyard were handled separately. The grapes were crushed into fermenters for a cold soak on skins for 2 days, prior to fermentation. Fermentation occurred at temperatures of 20-25°C, with pump overs twice daily. The wines were kept on skins until fermentation was complete, then they were pressed into tank. Each parcel was matured separately, in American and French oak barrels. The wine was blended, fined and clarified prior to bottling in August 2011.
- VIC - Rutherglen
Light purple-red; a fresh and lively wine that utterly belies its alcohol, its black and red berry fruits backed by crisp acidity, and a consequent fresh finish.
Rating 89 - James Halliday Wine Companion 2013
Winery Tasting Notes
The 2010 Shiraz is purple red in colour.
A bouquet of dark berries, plums and spice.
The palate is rich, soft and velvety, with sweet fruit on the mid-palate that leads to a savoury, spicy finish.
