The name 'Strandlines' comes from the ancient shorelines or dunes that mark the retreating ocean from what is now the Naracoorte Range in Wrattonbully. These ancient dunes harbour the famed 'Terra Rossa' topsoil over Gambier limestone. The secret of these soils lies in the near perfect drainage they provide, leading to small crops of wonderfully concentrated fruit.

The bouquet offers an array of black fruits with undertones of spice and cedar; on the palate the wine has a degree of austerity, needing to loosen its grip somewhat, although this is not a tannin issue. Rating 93 - Drink by 2023 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (MAR/2009)
