The Penley Estate flagship, super premium Coonawarra Shiraz , fruit all sourced from the estate vineyard. The current vintage comes from the short rows in the cottage block and undergoes a similar winemaking process to the Reserve cabernet. Restrained Australian shiraz with ripe blackberry, smoky oak with hints of pepper and spice.
- SA - Coonawarra
- South Australia
Fermented with submerged cap header boards 8-9 days, finished fermentation and matured in new French and American oak for 21 months. There really is a forest of oak in the wine, even though the barrel fermentation helps integration. May well escape from the forest in the years ahead, for the quality of the fruit is not in doubt.
