It began on a train from Zurich to Lugarno in Switzerland in 1997 with a desire to upgrade the level of quality in Hyland Shiraz, together with the belief that Coonawarra Shiraz has a uniqueness of flavour but fell out of favour due to the popularity of Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon.

Very good crimson-purple colour; a rich, multifaceted, medium- to full-bodied wine reflecting the excellent vintage, with plum, blackberry, spice and anise wrapped in quality oak. Received the International Judge Trophy at the Limestone Coast Wine Show '12. Rating 94 - Drink by 2035 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (DEC/2012)
Winery Tasting Notes
Inky with a great depth of colour and a purple hue.
The nose is strongly fruit driven showing concentrated blackberry, mulberry and cassis characteristics. The aroma has a subtle smokey oak character and a touch of chocolate vanillin enhanced during its barrel fermentation.
There is a fine balance of fruit, oak and richness. A sensuous palate displaying beautiful tannin, length and balance. Lovely ripe berry fruit with a touch of spice. The wine glides across the palate effortlessly with a seamless texture and an immaculate finish. A great example of high quality Coonawarra Shiraz.
