In 1989 Penley made its first vintage, 10 years later in 1999, Penley made its first vintage in its new state of the art winery, where the wine maker used a blend of modern and traditional winemaking techniques to produce Penley’s range of wines.

Submerged cap header boards, matured for 21 months in French oak (86% new, the rest 1yo). Cassis, earth, mint, oak and tannins all contribute in one way or another to this powerful expression of Coonawarra; has a good future. Winery Tasting Notes
Penley’s Phoenix is an excellent example of the classic Coonawarra cabernet. Distinct blackcurrant flavours, lovely soft tannins and a long lingering finish. Medium to full bodied. It maybe cliché by this is a perfect example of Coonawarra cabernets big cassis characteristics with hints of that classic Coonawarra earthiness
