Penleys Chardonnay is a clean wine of melon and citrus fruits with hints of soft French oak. There is an element of creaminess to it which is contributed to the portion of wild yeast ferment adding complexity of depth to the wine.
Aradia was a mythical goddess, and was the daughter of the sun and the moon.
The sun represents strength and power. The sun has such a strong influence on the growth of the vine. It controls the ability of Coonawarra to fully mature its grapes at harvest time.
The sun is represented on each Penley Estate label. The moon and the sun affect the growing season for the grapes. The night and the day, the warm days and the cool nights, the red soils and the limestone beneath all act together to produce the unique character of Coonawarra. The terroir.
Aradia represents the duality in Penley. The Tolley’s and the Penfolds, the sun and the moon and their effect on the growing seasons and the cycle of life.
