Expert Reviews

Splash it around, hide the bot, stand back and watch the merriment! A cleanskin killer crafted using the kind of tricks you only hear about in tiny boutiques: wild yeast ferment, skin phenolics and cool, high altitude fruit to tone its Riverland base. Never mind the technicals, it’s textual, luscious and creamy. Drink now.Rating 90 - Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste (15/APR/2011)

It’s varietal, textural and nine bucks, so what are you waiting for? Wild ferment and some well-handled skin phenolics provide texture, lusciousness and creaminess to varietal stone fruits and citrus. Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley give definition, structure and length to its Riverland backbone.Rating 90 - Tyson Stelzer, Wine100 (OCT/2010)

While this might not have the concentration of some of the other pinot grigios recommended here, it does have gentle, fresh aromatics and a lively, satisfying mouthfeel that lingers.GOOD - Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2011 (SEP/2010)

Winemaking Note

A relatively cool December and January allowed for optimal ripening. Flavours developed evenly and grapes were harvested in early February, capturing the varietal essence of Pinot Grigio. These grapes, and the indigenous yeast that transformed them into wine, have created layers of flavour and richness. After fermentation the wine was left on yeast lees for three months and stirred every week to ensure a complexity and creaminess to the wine and a richness to the palate.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Oxford Landing Estates was established in 1958 on the banks of the mighty Murray River in South Australia amidst bountiful sunshine, vivid blue skies and plenty of red Riverland soil.

From planting vines to making wines, Oxford Landing Estates takes great pride in their people – some having spent their whole life on the Murray. They are part of a community who are unashamedly passionate about the vineyards, grapes and working together to ensure the wine going into the bottle is what they envisaged.

“Our group of dedicated vineyard staff live on-site and nearby. It’s their care and attention to detail that sets the basis for Oxford Landing Estates wine quality,” says Vineyard Manager Robert ‘Fred’ Strachan.
