Vineyard

The Oxford Landing Merlot vines have been strategically planted on well drained sites. Careful irrigation control and management of the vineyard promotes well balanced vine canopies, thereby maximising fruit quality. Good rainfall in spring and a relatively mild summer resulted in excellent growing conditions for the fruit for the 2010 vintage, resulting in ripe flavours balanced nicely with good tannins.

Winemaking Note

Fermentation was carried out in a combination of static and rotary fermenters under warm temperature conditions for a period of six days. This creates a good balance between extracting the appropriate tannin for wine structure and retaining fruit drive and aromatics in the final blend. The wines were stored at 6°C post fermentation to retain natural colour and aromatics of the variety.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Oxford Landing Estates was established in 1958 on the banks of the mighty Murray River in South Australia amidst bountiful sunshine, vivid blue skies and plenty of red Riverland soil.

From planting vines to making wines, Oxford Landing Estates takes great pride in their people – some having spent their whole life on the Murray. They are part of a community who are unashamedly passionate about the vineyards, grapes and working together to ensure the wine going into the bottle is what they envisaged.

“Our group of dedicated vineyard staff live on-site and nearby. It’s their care and attention to detail that sets the basis for Oxford Landing Estates wine quality,” says Vineyard Manager Robert ‘Fred’ Strachan.
