Shiraz grown in Western Australia’s Great Southern develops regionally characteristic pepper and spice notes that add a rich dimension to the wine. Aging in oak barrels for nearly two years imparts subtle vanilla, chocolaty oak characters, and adds further spice and warmth to the plush rich flavours.

Winery Tasting Notes

Open Omrah Shiraz and discover a ripe plush wine full of blueberry and plum aromas, juicy cherry flavours, gentle vanilla oak with a

hint of pepper and spice. This is a warm, rich, spicy wine of lingering fruit flavours and beautiful harmony.

The Food

The full flavours and warm spice notes of Shiraz go perfectly with rich hearty dishes. Beef stews, roasted vegetables or spicy sausages all work well. Even soft cheese with a glass of Shiraz is a delightful combination. But our favourite match for Omrah Shiraz is a delicious peppered steak, cooked to perfection!

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Omrah is the pure taste of the Great Southern region. For the wine drinker who loves to discover something different and a little special, Omrah is pure wine drinking pleasure from the pristine southern tip of Western Australia.

Omrah was named after a vineyard, which was named after a boat! The SS Omrah brought passengers from England to Albany in the Great Southern region of Western Australia in the early 1900’s. One of the early passengers decided to pay homage to the ship by naming his property Omrah. Vines were later planted on the property and the first Omrah wine was made with chardonnay purchased from the Omrah Vineyard in 1989.

Omrah was the first chardonnay in Australia made with no oak (yes, in 1989 unoaked chardonnay was a little out there!). However, the style caught on and today wine lovers all over the world love the crisp fresh taste of unoaked chardonnay. Now more than 20 years on, Omrah has a stylish new label and an energetic young team with a passion for the Great Southern region. Open Omrah and you can trust that the occasion just became special…
