Heathcote soil is about 500 million years old, which is among some of the oldest soil in Australia. Formed from Cambrian rocks, red Cambrian soil which has clay, granite, grey loams in it and natural quartz crystals. The climate is ideal for this type of wines, due to its cooler winters and dry summers to give it that nice balance, which is needed to make top quality wine. Management for producing quality wine we produce maximum 2 tonne per acre grapes, per 1000 plant for to have dense flavour fruit. The vines are irrigated by drippers system accordingly due to, on how much rain fall we get per session. Grapes are handpicked when fully ripe. We use 80% French oak and 20% American oak barrels. Wine is kept 12 to 18 months for oak maturity. Asa No1 corks are used for long lasting aging wine.

Dream has come true

Garo Ipradjian I was born in a small town called Anjar, Beka Valley in Lebanon. His father was a 1st generation of wine grower. Garo immigrated to Australia in 1966, under his profession as jeweller, but he always dreamt to follow in his father’s footsteps, owning his own vineyard. That dream came true in 2001, when he, his wife Osvanna and his son John established a vineyard in Heathcote. He chose Heathcote as it reminded him of Anjar where he was born. The Heathcote and Anjar have the similar climate and red Cambrian, it is ideal for red wine due to its cooler winters and dry summers.
