Winery Tasting Notes
Chestnut Grove `Reserve` Cabernet Merlot 2012 (2 x 750mL), Manjimup, WA. Cork closure.
Sweet cassis, black currant liqueur, fruit spice, dried herbs and earthy notes provide a very rich, concentrated and intense nose. The Merlot provides a sweet fruit core of plums and raspberry while the Cabernet Sauvignon offers length, structure and grainy tannin. Overall the blend is harmonious and balanced making a more complete wine designed for medium term cellaring.
Chestnut Grove `Reserve` Shiraz 2012 (2 x 750mL), Manjimup, WA. Cork closure.
The best parcels of estate grown fruit from the Manjimup region of Western Australia were selected for the Reserve Shiraz. Matured in old French oak barrels for 18 months and then bottle aged to perfection, this medium-bodied elegant style Shiraz shows all the hallmarks of cool climate spice and savoury complexity. Enjoy with Venison steaks.
Chestnut Grove `Reserve` Pinot Noir 2013 (2 x 750mL), Manjimup, WA. Cork closure.
Uplifted red berry, floral perfume scents, exotic spice and leafy forest floor complexity provide classic Pinot Noir characteristics from perfect ripening conditions in Manjimup. Maturation in French oak barriques for 14 months provides toasty nutty complexity. Upfront sweet red plum is supported by supple smooth tannins and long finish. The Reserve is a fine elegant Pinot Noir style designed to age gracefully for 8 – 10 years in bottle.
