Food Matching
Serve slightly chilled. The juicy Chardonnay stone-fruit flavours and crispness of this wine, makes it a perfect accompaniment to spicy foods, chicken, pasta or simply on its own.
Winemaking Notes
Sourced from premium vineyards across Australia, this 100% Chardonnay matured in oak prior to being aged on lees to add further complexity.
The different components were blended together to create a wine style consistent with the Tyrrell’s winemaking philosophy. A touch of residual sugar was retained to soften and fill out the already generous palate.
Wine Background
One moonlit night in the late 60’s impassioned winemaker Murray Tyrrell leaped the fence of a neighbouring winegrower to secure a cutting of a then unique grape variety…
English immigrant Edward Tyrrell established Tyrrell's Wines in 1858 in the lee of the Hunter Valley's Brokenback Range, New South Wales. This land has become recognised as home to some of the Hunter Valley regions finest vineyards, and the basis for development of one of Australia's most successful privately owned wine companies.
Today, Tyrrell's are a truly national wine company, premium vineyards extend from their legendary home in the Hunter Valley to other distinguished grape growing regions of Australia including McLaren Vale in South Australia and Heathcote in Victoria.
Fourth generation family member and Managing Director, Bruce Tyrrell heads this winemaking company that boasts well established, popular and highly recognisable wine brands that are exported to over 30 countries worldwide. His children, the fifth generation of the Tyrrell family, are involved in the family business, illustrating that this iconic Hunter Valley winery will continue to be Australian owned well into the future.
Tyrrell's Wines was awarded Winery Of The Year by James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2010.
