The vineyards are in the Willunga district in the southern end of McLaren Vale. The heavy grey loam soil over sandstone, intermixed with black Biscay clay, combined with a maritime climate, contribute to an even ripening period and the development of rich fruit flavours and ripe tannins.
Intense, textured and showing pure fruit flavours, Jester Shiraz is our baby G.A.M using the same barrels in which G.A.M was previously aged. Jester Shiraz is made to be upfront and approachable for early appreciation, and delivers excellent quality for the price.
- SA - McLaren Vale
- South Australia
Spends 18 months in French oak (10% new). Has excellent colour for the vintage, McLaren vale doing it once again; there is a cool climate-like spicy/peppery edge to the ripe black fruits of the palate, the tannins supple, the oak integrated. One of the best wines of this difficult vintage. Rating 94 - Drink by 2021, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (AUG/2013)
Winery Tasting Notes
The nose is a true reflection of a cooler year in McLaren vale with cranberry, blueberry, a hint of cracked black pepper, and quality spicy oak.
Medium to full bodied, again a reflection of a cooler year with bright flavours of red berries, subtle herbal character and an overall savoury quality to the finish, perfect for food.
Prosciutto wrapped veal with soft polenta.
