Winery Tasting Notes

Pale straw in colour with green hints, the Mawson’s Cape Denison Sauvignon Blanc shows the delicacy of citrus blossom, opening up to gooseberry and grapefruit aromas. Dried herbs along with slight flinty

aromas provide added intrigue and complexity.

The wine has an express line of zippy acid that leads into gratifying flavours of preserved lemon, grapefruit and lemon sorbet. The flavours are full and retain sophistication. The combination of flavours is mouthwatering, layered and delicious, leaving you wanting just one more sip.

Food Matching

Mawson’s Cape Denison Sauvignon Blanc is best consumed in its youth. Try with beer battered fish, chunky hand cut chips with rock salt and dill mayonnaise.

Red 5 Star Winery -James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2011

Family-owned and run by Robert Hill Smith, Yalumba has long had a commitment to quality and has shown great vision in its selection of vineyard sites, new varieties and brands. It has always been a serious player at the top end of full-bodied (and full-blooded) Australian reds, and was the pioneer in the use of screwcaps. While its estate vineyards are largely planted to mainstream varieties, it has taken marketing ownership of viognier. However, these days its own brands revolve around the Y Series and a number of stand-alone brands across the length and breadth of SA. Yalumba has been very successful in building its export base. Exports to all major markets.
