Yalumba has been growing Sauvignon Blanc at Wrattonbully since the vineyards were first planted in the mid 1990s. Every year the fruit has shown vibrant and intense flavours and characters that we look for in the variety, and it is exciting to have this wine continue as a regional release.

Winery Tasting Notes

A very pale straw with fresh green tinges.

The aroma is very fresh with lychee and cut grass, fragrant spice and nettle leaf.

The palate of this wine is intense with layers of flavours: lemon and lime citrus with a touch of fresh herbs. The texture is flinty and long and finishes with lingering flavours and a zesty acidity.

Red 5 Star Winery -James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Edition 2011

Family-owned and run by Robert Hill Smith, Yalumba has long had a commitment to quality and has shown great vision in its selection of vineyard sites, new varieties and brands. It has always been a serious player at the top end of full-bodied (and full-blooded) Australian reds, and was the pioneer in the use of screwcaps. While its estate vineyards are largely planted to mainstream varieties, it has taken marketing ownership of viognier. However, these days its own brands revolve around the Y Series and a number of stand-alone brands across the length and breadth of SA. Yalumba has been very successful in building its export base. Exports to all major markets.
