Classification: Barolo DOCG, Piedmont
The small and famous zone of Barolo produces one of Italy’s – and the worlds – great red wines. Production is limited and authentic Barolo like Manfredi’s represent great value.

Winery Tasting Notes
Here in Barolo the formidable complexities, structure and firm, sometimes fierce tannin finish of Nebbiolo reaches its peak.
Most of the Manfredi Nebbiolo is sourced from the two Barolo zones closest to them and they are contrasting but ultimately complimentary ; the tough and closed Monforte d’Alba commune eventually yields richer perfumes of red fruits and violet, while the Nebbiolo of the Barolo commune is also disciplined but offers more upfront and generous prune, roses and spice.
This wine will need some decanting time, then big glasses, when it will show many of the intrigues of Barolo. Not surprisingly the food can be rich and complex or even simple, but strong; a rich braise of game with mushrooms or just a great piece of aged cheese or air dried meat.
