Overview

Paying homage to the art of regional blending and the philosophy that the sum of the whole is greater than the individual parts, Lindeman’s Regional Series showcases classic single varieties from a blend of two complementary regions. These wines capture the best characters from each region to deliver beautifully balanced and approachable wines that are particularly expressive of a variety.

The Regional Series is a winemaker’s playground – allowing the talented Lindeman’s team to improve on the popular varieties and iconic Australian regions they most admire. On first look, these wines offer the satisfying, familiar characteristics that we have grown to love, but on deeper inspection you’ll notice they offer something more: a layer of complexity, a hint of contrast or a subtle highlight.

Lindeman’s Regional Series Hunter Valley and Adelaide Hills Chardonnay captures the creamy stone-fruit characters of Hunter Valley Chardonnay, balanced by the refined citrus and green apple flavours of Adelaide Hills to deliver a well-structured and expressive Chardonnay.

The History

Lindeman's wines contain the spirit and passion of its founder, Dr. Henry J Lindeman, whose philosophy was to craft wines for everyday enjoyment.

In 1843, Dr. Lindeman had planted his first vineyard on his 330-acre property 'Cawarra' in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. One hundred years after, the Lindeman's Wine Company became a public listed company.

By cellaring wines and not releasing them for sale until they had properly matured, Dr. Lindeman earned a reputation for producing wine of the highest quality. In 1973, the Lindeman's Winery at Karadoc was built to cater for the increasing consumer demand for Lindeman's wines around the world.

The Vineyards

The winemaking team of nine is spread across Victoria and South Australia. Wayne Falkenberg and his team at the Lindeman's Karadoc Winery produce wines for the Cawarra, Bin Series and Premier Selection labels, whilst the team based in the Coonawarra produce the Reserve and Coonawarra Trio wines.

Wayne Falkenberg

It was an early interest in biochemistry and some connections in the winemaking industry that encouraged Wayne to enter the field of Winemaking. He was born and raised in the Barossa Valley of South Australia, where his parents grew grapes for a number of wineries in the region. In 1974, Wayne entered Roseworthy Agricultural College and completed his Diploma in Oenology in 1976. Later that same year, Wayne joined LINDEMANS® as an Assistant Winemaker, at the Karadoc winery in northwestern Victoria.

Today Wayne is the Winemaker Manager, leading a team of eight winemakers and responsible for many commercial wines. The focus is on producing consistently great tasting wines for everyday enjoyment. The wines are fresh, soft, easy drinking and very affordable, value for money wines.

Wayne says "Commercial wines are harder to make than most wines because you have to be able to reliably produce a wine that is instantly recognisable year in year out, but there is no way Mother Nature gives you the same ingredients every year. Sourcing fruit from a wide area allows the freedom of blending to produce wines of consistency."
