Expert Reviews

The cherry flavor is matched by a vegetal note in this rich red, which is sweet at the core, with a fresh character and firm but well-meshed tannins. Best from 2010 through 2018.Rating 89 - Bruni Sanderson, Wine Spectator (MAY/2009)

Light ruby colour with a spicy black-fruit aromas and hints of minerals and earth. Reasonably concentrated with sappy black-fruits, earth and just integrated oak flavours. Nice weight, a touch 4-square but with rounded spicy black cherry and blackcurrant fruits. Moderate vanilla and mineral finish. TheFineWineTimes.com - (11/FEB/2010)

Winery Tasting Notes

Grape Varietal

Pinot Noir 100%

Deep red in colour.

This dark, brooding Pinot overwhelms the nose with cassis and fresh raspberry.

The palate has a refined texture, ripe and supple tannins, good depth, fleshy ripe fruit and just a touch of spice.

Cellaring Potential

Best from 2010 through 2018.

Winemaking Note

Traditional fermentation followed by 10 to 12 months in oak barrels.

Situated about 10 Km from Dijon, Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the first viticultural villages in the Côte de Nuits. Planted only with Pinot Noir, here with find the hierarchy of the Burgundian appellations: to the North, the premiers crus and to the South the grand crus. The village appellations are gathered on the bottom of the slope. The sparse and pebbly limestone-rich, brown-red soils give the Gevrey-Chambertin power and body. A great Côte de Nuits classic!

The family-run company of Maison Louis Latour is one of the most highly-respected négociant-éléveurs in Burgundy. Renowned throughout the world for the quality of its red and white wines, the company has built a reputation for tradition and innovation.

Regarded as one of the traditional négociant-éléveurs, Maison Louis Latour is the producer of some of the finest Burgundian wines but has also pioneered the production of fine wines from outside of the confines of Burgundy.

These wines from the Ardèche and the Côteaux de Verdon are slowly gaining esteem for their unmatchable quality outside of Burgundy.

Maison Louis Latour respects Burgundian traditions for the vinification of its red wines from the harvest to the final product. Only the finest grapes are selected and placed into traditional French oak vats for a short period of fermentation.

Maison Louis Latour is the oldest remaining, family-run winegrower/merchant in Burgundy. It has achieved this enviable position by a readiness to change with the times and by staying at the forefront of innovation in winemaking and marketing.

In 1999, the sixth Louis Latour, passed the running of the business into the hands of his son, Louis-Fabrice. Since joining in 1989, Louis-Fabrice has introduced new management skills and ideas. He is a strong advocate of the family philosophy of integrating modern innovations with the best of established traditions. According to Louis-Fabrice, it is an unwritten rule in the family that each generation should leave something new for future generations. His unwavering commitment to quality will continue Maison Louis Latour’s already well-established reputation.
