You won’t ever get much argument from knowledgeable grape and wine people about the fact that terrific vineyard sites make terrific wine. However, it’s easy to ‘stuff it up’… the challenge for the grapegrower and winemaker is to determine what is best from a particular site. It’s like raising a child: no point trying to make a rower out of someone who is built for cycling…

Such was the challenge with the vineyard which has traditionally been the sole source of fruit for the fragrant, crisp, fine and dry La Linea rosé. The block can produce lovely dry red Tempranillo, but as our history tells, the fruit struck us as being perfect for the rosé we wanted to create. It had all of the hallmarks, and it took just one vintage to prove itself. It’s been the heart of the wine every since.

The signature aromas of red apples, Turkish delight and red berries precede the freshness and crispness that good rosé needs, followed by the subtle tannin edge which offers length and generosity on the palate.

La Linea is a partnership of experienced wine industry professionals, including Peter Leske and David LeMire MW. Peter was among the first to recognise the potential of Tempranillo in Australia, and his knowledge of it is reflected in the three wine styles made from the variety: Tempranillo Rose, the Tempranillo blended from several Adelaide Hills vineyards, and Norteno, from a single vineyard at the northern end of the Hills.
