A partnership between Peter Leske and David LeMire MW, La Linea was launched in mid 2007 with the release of the 2007 La Linea Tempranillo Rosé.

In 2013 we have for the first time included a small amount of wine from another site - a block on the eastern fringes of the Hills near Macclesfield, which also showed freshness and fruit intensity as it ripened. We picked both blocks at their optimum (which happened to be 11.9 baumé for both; but a week apart), gave each some time on skins before pressing, then racked, fermented and bottled soon after the completion of fermentation. Simple winemaking. It’s all about the variety and the sites, so we try to avoid trampling all over both with complicated techniques.

Expert Reviews

Skilfully crafted rosé at a bargain price. Delightful fragrance of strawberries and blood oranges leads into an alluringly savoury palate that captures pomegranate and wild strawberry flavours. It’s elegantly fragrant and delightfully textural, with fine, mouth-embracing grip. Rating 94 - Drink: 2014-2015 Tyson Stelzer,

Winery Tasting Notes

We remain true to our aim of a bone dry style, year in, year out. The colour in 2013 is slightly less that in some years, but the signature aromas of red apples, Turkish delight and red berries precede the freshness and crispness that good rosé needs, followed by the subtle tannin edge which offers length and generosity on the palate.

Food Matching

Chill lightly and enjoy with a good plate of antipasti sometime in the next 12 months (this note written in June 2013).

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

La Linea is a partnership of experienced wine industry professionals, including Peter Leske and David LeMire MW. Peter was among the first to recognise the potential of Tempranillo in Australia, and his knowledge of it is reflected in the three wine styles made from the variety: Tempranillo Rose, the Tempranillo blended from several Adelaide Hills vineyards, and Norteno, from a single vineyard at the northern end of the Hills. Two Rieslings are produced under the Vertigo label: TRKN (short for trocken), and the off-dry 25GR (25 g/l residual sugar). James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
