Our 2012 rosé has been specifically sourced from the same cool single-vineyard block, located between Echunga and Mount Barker in the central Adelaide Hills. This block was always intended to be the source for this wine. It offers, year after year, unusually intense varietal fruit fragrance, which makes it perfect for rosé.

Winery Tasting Notes

It is bone dry with a faint and subtle tannin edge from that time on skins. Fresh acidity follows those typical flavours of red apples, Turkish delight and red berries.

Cellaring Potential

Enjoy its fragrance and crispness in its youth.

Winemkaing Note

The fruit is picked when perfectly ripe for rosé, which is 1-2 weeks earlier than if we are making dry red. Once in the winery it is crushed and chilled into the press, where it sits for 12-20 hours while the skins gently release colour and tannin into the juice.

The skin-contact time in 2012 was consistent with earlier years, and the resultant wine also very similar to those previous vintages.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

La Linea is a partnership of experienced wine industry professionals, including Peter Leske and David LeMire MW. Peter was among the first to recognise the potential of Tempranillo in Australia, and his knowledge of it is reflected in the three wine styles made from the variety: Tempranillo Rose, the Tempranillo blended from several Adelaide Hills vineyards, and Norteno, from a single vineyard at the northern end of the Hills. Two Rieslings are produced under the Vertigo label: TRKN (short for trocken), and the off-dry 25GR (25 g/l residual sugar). James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
