Winemaking Notes

The 2008 vintage in Kamptal was a winemakers vintage. A dry and warm May and sunny June encouraged healthy budding and good vegetation growth. Towards the end of June there was heavy rain, coupled with warm nights. The fruit was hand harvested from 10th - 29th October 2008, where warm days and cool nights drew out the varietl phenol aromatic characteristics of Gruner, making 2008 a fruity and lively wine. The grapes were gentely pressed and then temperature controlled fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, in order to preserve freshness and fruit driven aromas. Charming then rested on lees in satinless steel tanks for 6 months prior to its release in September 2009.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Laurenz V stands for five generations of the Moser wine dynasty. And, with the daughter of Laurenz Maria Moser - Sophie, born in 1991 - the 6th generation of the family is well on its way.

The grapes for this Veltliner are grown in the Kamptal region of Austria. Here the Gruner Veltliner ripens in granite, gneiss, mica-slate as well as loess soils. The cold air from the north, the rugged Waldviertel, lowers night temperatures substantially, slowing up the ripening of the grapes. These regionalattributes however are the reason why the Gruner Veltliner from Kamptal is particularly intense, structured and balanced.
