The 2009 vintage provided us with Chardonnay of real purity and finesse across all of our vineyards. The wines are supple, refreshing and beautifully concentrated. The Village wine from 2009 benefited from the decision to leave the hard press portion of our Chardonnays out of the Village wine. As a result the 2009 Village Chardonnay is particularly supple with a very fine texture that makes the wine delicious to drink.

Winery Tasting Notes
This wine was fermented 1/3 French oak barriques, and 2/3 in stainless steel tanks to allow emphasis on the ripe peach and melon aromas of the Chardonnay fruit. We always think that this is a wine to drink while you wait for the Kumeu River Chardonnay to get more bottle age.
This year’s Village Chardonnay features very attractive lifted fruit aromas, along with a touch of nuttiness: the hint of hazelnut that is so typical of Chardonnay.
The palate also shows a nice peachy ripeness along with a crisp flinty character that gives the wine a refreshing cleansing quality.
This wine is perfect to drink with fish and shellfish.
